Cheapest Eye Massager

It's the cheapest eye massager I've seen so far, and yes it's China-made. I bought this eye massager from the nearest Handyman store and found it to be the cheapest for only, guess what - Php26! That is after slashing the unbelievable 70% discount. I know it's way far to even compare with real deal sophisticated electronic eye massagers but I was just too curious if it could really help as I'm always working in front of computer. I wanted to do some good massaging for my poorly visioned eyes.

Made of plastic, this one's used by manually pressing the massager into the eyebone under the eyebrows. The packaging states that it can relieve the tiredness of your eyes caused by shortage of sleep and excessive usage. Well it's not like giving the total comfort but some good old pressure points do provide a small sense of relief. And so a year has passed since I bought boxes of Precision UV containing 6 pairs of contact lenses. The optometrist recommended that I use a pair for 2 months but I've been using one pair for 3 months since it's not everyday that I really get to wear those contact lenses. The Php2,490 price tag (that includes the Aeosept solution) may look steep at first glance but then I get to use it for maximum of 18 months without getting any eye complications, not bad.

Being a travel freak that I am, I don't just struggle to get my "house" and "hospital" fit together in my humble backpack. I also need to carry with me an "eye clinic"! Suffice to say, being a member of the four-eyed club has this thing to consider when hitting the road. 

It has been a year since I bought a set of disposable contact lenses from Ideal Vision, but I have longed finished using the AO Sept Plus contact solution. I actually wasn't able to use everything as I really find it too complicated and even scary to use since it's very much different in terms of use compared to regular solutions. Why?

Because once I was in a hurry, I accidentally used the said un-neutralised solution to clean my contact lenses before inserting them on my eyes  - a very clumsy and careless move when all the while I thought I was using the normal solution that I also have. I saw how my eyes burned and turned fiery red - I panicked!  After rinsing and resting my eyes, good thing it went back to normal after a few hours. The AO Sept solution needs extra care and caution when using and I do not personally recommend it during the course of travelling (you need to soak you contacts here for a strict 6 hours!). 

Good thing I discovered the 100ml All in One Light Solution from Sauflon - it's cheap, it's lightweight and so much easy to use. I've been using this during my past trips along with the Eye Care Lens Lubricant and have never regret buying this. Again, EO Optical sells these amazing travel buddies.

Protect Your Eyes From Smoke

I am not a smoker, never been and never will be. I mean I love my lungs for heaven's sake and so are my eyes! Below is a list of harmful effects of smoke on our eyes:

• Smoking causes inflammation of conjuctiva (the thin membrane covering the eye). Thus results in bloodshot eyes and also irritated eyes.
• There is a direct link between cataract and smoking. Smokers are at risk of developing cataract.
• Smoking is also linked to the eye disease referred to as macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is caused by cardiovascular disease and is a major cause of blindness in the West. Smoking causes cardiovascular disease.
• One needs to quit smoking to avoid the progress of diabetic retinopathy.
• Blood vessels shrink or get constricted due to smoking causing glaucoma as well as optic nerve damage.
• Chemicals get into the blood stream and burst through the macula (central part of the retina) or the cells in the macula die slowly. It eventually leads to loss of vision. (Rebuild Your Vision )

Knowing the list above, everyone of us who are currently suffering from eye problems should take extra care especially if we live and work with smokers everyday. When I was working in TV Production years ago, and most of my colleagues do smoke (usually after having our meal together), I politely leave and simply continue on with my day's work.
